Student Visa from Equatorial Guinea to Spain

Student Visa from Equatorial Guinea to Spain Description

  • A student from Equatorial Guinea that plans to travel to Spain to study for longer than three months need to get a Spanish student visa (Type D visa).
  • You need to have been offered admission into a Spanish school before you begin the process of getting a student visa as you will be required to provide an original copy of your acceptance letter.
  • The acceptance letter must state the details of the study you intend to take in Spain, including the hours of study per week (not less than 20 hours).
  • You are to fill a Spanish visa application form accurately and completely before submitting. If your application form is not correctly filled in, the processing of your visa request may be delayed.
  • Your passport must be valid for not less than three months beyond the date you intend to leave Spain and have at least two blank pages for visa stamps.
  • You need to obtain a medical certificate confirming that you do not have any diseases that would require you to be quarantined.
  • You must also provide proof that you have travel insurance with a minimum coverage of €30,000 to cover the entire duration of your stay in Spain.
  • You also need to provide proof that you have the means to support yourself financially for the entire duration of your stay in Spain. Such proof could be scholarship details, a Spanish bank showing sufficient funds or a letter of sponsorship from your parents or guardians assuming full responsibility for your financial needs.
  • You are required to provide a police record confirming you do not have any pending criminal case. This document must be issued within the last five years to be valid. Applicants with an ongoing criminal case will not be issued this visa.
  • If you are a minor travelling to Spain, you are required to submit a copy of your birth certificate and a letter signed by both parents or guardians declaring their consent.
  • While the application for this visa usually takes 15 days, the period can extend to 30 days for specific reasons. You are thus advised to begin your application as soon as possible.
  • You also need to obtain a Spanish student residence permit if you intend to study in Spain for more than 6 months. This permit should be obtained within 30 days of entering Spain from a police station or your local Foreign Office.
  • The following documents are needed for a Spanish student residence permit application:
    • Your passport having a validity of at least six months.
    • Completed residence permit application form, which can be obtained from the office you want to apply for the permit.
    • Photocopy of your passport stamp showing your entry into Spain.
    • Acceptance letter from the school confirming your course of study.
    • Three passport-size photographs.
    • Letter of residency that confirms that you are residing in Spain. This letter can be obtained at the police station by presenting your valid passport, rental contract or utility bill.
  • Once your application is approved, you’ll be given a student residence permit/card. This permit is valid for a year and can be renewed every year for five years as long as your studies continue.
  • The student residence permit authorises its holder to work either part-time or in a temporary position for up to 20 hours per week, as long as it does not interfere with their studies and you are not using the money you earn to support yourself while you are in Spain.
