  • The Spain tourist visa is a short-stay Schengen visa that is issued to foreign nationals who intend to visit Spain for tourism, sightseeing, visiting family and friends or other recreational activities.
  • The tourist visa also allows you to get medical treatment in Spain.
  • An accurately filled and signed visa application form must be submitted. Applicants should note that Invalid applications or incomplete visa application forms will not be accepted for processing and a new appointment would have to be made.
  • Two clear and colour passport-size photographs (3.5 x 4.5 cm), taken with a white background, should be sent with your completed application form.
  • You must provide proof that you can finance your trip for the entire duration of your stay in Spain (that means, you can spend at least $40.80 per day). You could prove this by sending copies of your bank account statements from the last six months or your most recent payslips.
  • If you are visiting relatives or friends living in Spain, you are to submit an original letter of invitation stating the contact details (name, home address and phone number) of your host in the country.
  • The invitation letter should also state the purpose of your travel, the relationship between you and your host, the duration of your stay, and indicate of who is covering the costs of your travel.
  • You are also required to provide a copy of your valid travel insurance with a minimum coverage of 30,000 euros, to cover any emergency medical treatment.
  • You are required to show proof of secured hotel or private accommodation in Spain for the entire duration of your stay in the country.
  • A cover letter stating the purpose of your visit, places you plan to visit during your stay in Spain, and the time for each travel should be submitted.
  • To show that you plan to leave Spain once your visa expires, you are required to provide a copy of your roundtrip flight ticket or a confirmed travel itinerary. This document should show both entry and exit dates as well as flight information.
  • For proof of employment status:
    • If you are an employee, you are to provide proof of their employment in the form of an employment contract, current bank statements of the latest six months and an Income Tax Return (ITR).
    • If you are self-employed, you should submit proof of business certification such as the Business Licence and the company's certified bank account statements for the last three months.
    • If you are a student, you must provide proof of enrollment and leave approval from their school or university.
    • If you are retired, you should provide documents that prove that you are receiving a pension or other financial support.
  • You are expected to submit your application in person as your biometric data will be collected at the point of submission.
  • While the tourist visa allows you to enter Spain and other countries in the Schengen Area, it does not permit you to take up paid or unpaid employment in these countries.
  • You are advised to check that all necessary documents and copies are sent along with your completed visa application form as any missing document could delay the processing of your visa application.
  • Proof of payment of the visa fee is required.
  • Minors travelling to Spain should present the original copy of their birth certificate, copy of both parents’ ID cards and passports and an original consent letter from both parents if the minor is travelling alone, or from the parent that is not travelling with the child.

  • Travel medical insurance with a minimum coverage of €30,000 within Spain and the entire Schengen Area to cover for expenses for personal accident, urgent medical treatment or any other medical emergencies.
  • A cover letter, including your itinerary, stating the purpose of your visit to Spain.
  • Proof of accommodation for the entire duration of your stay in Spain.
  • Proof of financial sufficiency for your travel expenses.
  • Proof of paid visa fee. €60 for adults and €35 for children from 6 to 12 years old.
