  • This visa is a short-stay Schengen visa issued by the French consulate to foreign nationals who want to travel to the Principality of Monaco for tourism, sightseeing, vacation, visiting family and friends or other recreational activities.
  • If you intend to attend cultural or social events or festivals in Monaco, the short-stay visa permits you to do this.
  • You are required to submit an accurately completed and signed visa application form.
  • 2 passport-size photographs (35 x 45 mm) recently taken with a white background must be submitted by the applicant.
  • You are required to also present your travel document issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least 3 months from your planned departure date from Monaco.
  • Your valid travel document must also have at least 2 blank pages.
  • You are required to present a document that shows the purpose of your travel to Monaco. If you are touring Monaco with a tour organiser, you may submit a reservation confirmation of an organised trip. If you will be visiting Monaco on your own, a covering letter clearly stating the purpose of your travel to Monaco.
  • You should also provide a copy of your return flight ticket to your country of origin or a confirmed travel itinerary as evidence that you intend to leave Monaco upon the expiration of your visa.
  • A valid travel health insurance with a minimum coverage of 30,000 euros including medical repatriation, and emergency and/or hospital treatment in Monaco and the entire Schengen Area.
  • You are required to show proof of accommodation in Monaco for the whole duration of your stay.
    • This could be a copy of your hotel reservation in Monaco or sufficient resources to cover hotel expenses (i.e. proof of having at least 120 euros per day or a tenancy agreement or certificate of ownership.
    • If you will be staying with a host in the country, you are required to obtain the proof of accommodation document from them. They are to obtain this document on your behalf from their local town hall in Monaco.
  • As proof that you can cater to your financial needs for the entire duration of your stay Monaco, you must provide copies of your bank account statements, payslips or pension slips of the last 3 months.
  • This visa also permits its holder to receive medical treatment in Monaco. The following supporting documents must also be provided by travellers for a medical purpose:
    • A medical certificate of your local doctor stating that it is impossible to treat the patient in your country of origin.
    • Prior payment of the medical fee or certificate of coverage by a credible and reliable organisation.
    • Self-sworn statement of the visa applicant promising to pay any additional, unforeseen medical costs.
    • A written agreement of the hospital to admit the patient, specifying the date and planned length of hospitalisation as well as an estimate of the cost of treatment and care.

  • Proof of financial sufficiency for your travel expenses.
  • Proof of paid visa fee. €60 for adults and €35 for children from 6 to 12 years old.
  • Although the Principality of Monaco is not part of the European Union or the Schengen Agreement, its territory is part of the Schengen Area by virtue of its customs union with France, thus a Schengen visa will be issued by the French consulate to foreign nationals travelling to Monaco.
